When did the word, “illegal” change to mean, “fun!” instead of “an activity of wrongdoing or a person or persons that we know are doing something wrong or don’t belong”?
I won’t get into the big issues for lack of space. The big issues I refer to include such things as illegal immigration and murder. The liberals in this country are making a mockery of those issues and they won’t be corrected in my lifetime.
I’ll start with underage drinking. The legal age is 21. I know of a man (the son of a friend) who drank as a teenager along with all of his buddies. They would make a joke out of it and the parents gave in as long as they did it at home. In time, home came to mean anywhere he and his friends claimed as their haunts.
They were lucky because only one of his buddies had anything slightly bad happen and the parents swept it under the rug. Now they are middle aged with teenagers drinking in front of them. In fact, he drinks with his teenage daughter because he wants to be the cool dad.
His daughter went from pro-life to pro-abortion because she and all of her friends are sexually out of control. Every time they are together they are doing shots while keeping a beer at the ready in the other hand. They practice lesbian relations because it’s fashionable and it gives them something to do when the guys aren’t around.
I know that sexual practices aren’t a legal issue but once the morals are trashed they feel it’s a rite of passage to see what else they can do for shock value. She smokes as well, just like dad and has tried marijuana recently. “Just to relax me,” she says. Showing he is still the cool dad, he smokes it with her. What a guy!
She is the oldest of four and attends a liberal Ivy League college. She plans on becoming a lawyer and she might make it but she gave up a lot to get where she is. She has gone from believing in Christ because dad is agnostic. She wants to go law school to help illegal immigrants. She wants to see more abortion clinics now even though she protested against it while she was still in church. She wants to legalize marijuana and cocaine. Oh goodie! What a gal!
In a way, the lack of morals and the change in the word, illegal, came from a ripple effect. “Dad says it’s okay so I will do it.” The child says, “I will influence my siblings, friends and cousins and since I’m the popular kid in school, I can get the school to turn its back on any rule I want to break”. In effect, Dad has changed the world through the ripple effect. He has set the tone for the way the world will be for everyone’s kids. What a guy!
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6
I grew up with a kid who became an alcoholic before high school. That sounds hard to believe, considering how hard the stuff was to attain in those days. Both parents worked and drank to excess. He just took their leftovers.
Teachers never asked why he always wore a long jacket. It was the only one he could find with inside pockets for his flask which held his liquid lunch.
Bob was a great kid when he was sober and we were good friends. I had never heard of alcohol poisoning until he died from it. It was weird to attend a funeral in 8th grade. Bob’s mom committed suicide and his dad was last known to have died face down in the street.
My point is that some things are illegal for a very good reason and there can be consequences other than arrests. The worst is not the time or money spent planning anything illegal or going to court if caught by those “horrible police”.
The worst consequence is the separation from Christ. None of us will know for sure if Bob or his parents ever had a chance to accept Christ or were ever saved. If my humble prayers helped that would be a comfort because it’s one thing to waste a life but another to throw away eternity with God.
I’m starting to think that Christianity should be “illegal”. Then the kids would sneak off in droves to accept Christ. I know I’m just being silly but that’s how I feel.
Psalms has a lot of great facts and wisdom. Psalm 127:3 says, “Lo, children [are] an heritage of the Lord: [and] the fruit of the womb [is his] reward.” Just that one sentence should tell any sane man or woman not to sit down and drink with a child or condone anything illegal.
I have one thing to say about my second paragraph. I was thinking of a case in California where an illegal alien committed murder but the state has amnesty for illegals. He was released and committed two more murders. He is still living free in California. He’s wanted for murder in Mexico.
California is a lovely state with a beautiful history but in the future, it will be known as a wasteland of degradation and decaying laws. The story of the illegal getting away with murder is true, but the part about the future of California is my opinion. However, when the laws of God are ignored I’ll stay a safe distance away. God is a lot tougher than California law from what I hear.
The decay of concern for serious laws starts from slovenly behavior, such as drinking and smoking with your kids. The liberal way always seems attractive but it’s just weakness of mind and spirit. Think of law and order this way: Law is order in liberty, and without order, liberty is social chaos.
Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
