It’s been a long time since I read a book. I admit that since the stroke, reading anything more than the comics has been hard. Here are two books that I read some time ago but never got around to reviewing so I only needed to brush up on it a little so I’ll give it try. Here goes.
Regardless of what some believe, we live in a world of miracles. Sometimes they're small, simple answers to prayer for our daily needs. Other times they're overwhelmingly powerful acts of God that can't be denied.
Pat Robertson has seen, heard of, and been touched by thousands of miracles in his life and the lives of others. He openly shares those miracles in his book, Miracles Can Be Yours Today, all of which provide a remarkable testimony of God’s love for us.
Pat also explores the miracles of Jesus, shows the difference between positive thinking and true faith, and discusses the proven principles of miracles so that we too may live a miraculous life that is touched by God - no matter what we're up against!
Ordinarily, I wouldn’t recommend a book that may be perceived as political because my readers have a variety of political views and any book could be viewed as biased. Chuck Norris is not really being political but rather he is a patriot with a Christian heart and point of view. Being a patriot as well, I liked the title so much that I had to get his book. I think that the book, Black Belt Patriotism deserves a look.
It seems like wherever you turn these days, the news is bad. Illegal immigrants are swarming over our borders. Our nation and American families are crippled by debt. We remain vulnerable to Islamist terrorist attacks. Judges ignore the Constitution and instead legislate from the bench. Worst of all, faith and traditional values are under incessant assault from the media, leftist lawyers, and the liberal establishment. The core message of the Declaration of Independence, that everyone has a God-given right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, is under threat from the liberals. They think that God, “if He exists”, might not know best, but liberal-run government certainly does.
In Black Belt Patriotism, Norris gives a no-holds-barred assessment of American culture, tackling everything from family values to national security. The book provides real solutions for solving our problems, moving our country forward, and changing our nation's course for the better. Chuck Norris, the hero, icon, and legend, is back, packing a political and cultural punch, as only he can deliver. If you are a Christian first and then a patriot, this is worth reading.
Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much.Enter into the joy of your master.
Matthew 25:21
The advertisement read: “Faithful housekeeper needed”. Before the applicant’s arrival, coins were hidden throughout the house. The applicant cleaned every corner, found every coin and placed each one in a glass for the owner to reclaim. The applicant was found to be faithful.
God is exceedingly faithful. He faithfully sent His Son to redeem us. His Son was faithful unto death and bought us with His holy precious blood. He sought us, found us, redeemed us, and protects us from the evil one. Jesus restored us to Himself and made us His house, His Church (Hebrews 3:6).
By Grace He makes us His disciples and gives us wisdom, love, patience, faith, and faithfulness. Equipped with Christ’s good gifts, we serve and worship Him, endure trials and temptations, and testify of Him to our friends, families and enemies. Joyfully we anticipate Christ’s return to gather His own and take us to Heaven. Eagerly we wait to hear our Master say, “Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the Joy of your Master”.
Heavenly Father, keep us faithful until Christ’s return. Grant us His complete forgiveness so we may live forever in our promised home in Heaven. Amen.
Like so many of us, I once felt awkward praying out loud. I would worry more about how I sounded rather than the content. During my year-long commitment of CRHP meetings, we said the Lord’s Prayer at every meeting and hearing a group of men that previously barely knew each other praying together, you are forever changed. I say it every day now, no matter how I sound saying it.
And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites [are]: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen [do]: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as [it is] in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
