THE DARK SIDE

Did you ever notice how many people are attracted to the dark side of life? Politics, social lifestyles, entertainment and cults that have a dark theme attract so many people, especially kids. The minds of our children are growing and they believe they “know better” than adults and can be seduced and used by those with a sinister agenda.

I use the words, dark side because those of my generation remember Star Wars with Yoda and Ben Kenobi warning young Luke to beware of the Dark Side. It fits so many things in society.

Anyone growing up on Chicago’s south side had to put up with Illinois Nazi’s protesting one thing or another in Marquette Park. We fought a war to get rid of Nazi’s but just like Hitler, they indoctrinate the youth and the Neo Nazi party flourishes today.

I like to watch Hogan’s Heroes, from the 60’s. You might think it’s silly, and it is but I read a biography about Werner Klimperer and when he read the script, he begged to be Colonel Klink. You see, his family was German Jews and most were killed and to him the show was like therapy and an “Up Yours” to Hitler and his regime. One night, after it showed, I switched to the History channel and they had a show about Hitler and the Hitler Youth. It was scary because it’s happened here and is happening here again.

The young kids are being told by our government to teach their parents about any agenda because, as they tell the kids, they are smarter than parents. You can argue the point but I see our country moving to socialism fast and furious and youth are being indoctrinated at a fast rate. They are easy prey because they are given something with which to identify.

Rep. John Fleming (R-La.) said he was “disturbed” by President Barack Obama’s request to have the symbolic name for Jesus Christ – IHS – covered from a pediment that was visible behind him when he spoke at Georgetown University’s Gaston Hall on April 14. He cited it as an indication of the move towards socialism. But he only has to look as far as grade schools and hear children singing songs in praise of the president and not saying the pledge of allegiance with the words, “one nation under God” included.

Most of us think of Nazi as extreme right and Communism and Marxism as extreme left but they have a common bond; socialism. Each indoctrinates youth easily because it gives them an identity. These men were socialist with different points of view but all socialist none the less.

They enticed the youth and their followers put them before God. How did that work for them?

"But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation has come near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, and let those who are inside the city depart, and let not those who are out in the country enter it; for these are days of vengeance, to fulfil all that is written. Alas for those who are with child and for those who give suck in those days! For great distress shall be upon the earth and wrath upon this people; they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led captive among all nations; and Jerusalem will be trodden down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

Social lifestyles are deteriorating today as well as we give away our faith to fit in. Gays say they were born that way but you’d never believe it when you hear kids talk about trying it when nobody of the opposite sex is available. Just look at the pictures posted on your child’s Facebook or Myspace page. It is just shock value when a girl is seen kissing another girl one time but they are all over themselves on those pages quite often. They tell others it’s cool and it’s an identity that’s acceptable today.

They love the Internet. It has a lot of juicy chat rooms where they never really know the age or sex of the person they’re talking to. Those pages have been proven to be a haven for sexual predators.

If they aren’t on social networks, they have liberal access to pornography. When they go there, they easily become addicted and are easily seduced to a dark side that’s hard to shake. Worldwide sex trade is a reality because the youth can be so easily manipulated today. They are being told even by advertisers that they are smarter than adults and can make adult decisions, even if those decisions are illegal.

I used to blame my own generation in the 60’s for the drug culture but it was around for many generations before. It took off during the Wilson administration, who by the way was a socialist. Now, drugs are big business and the cause of wars. So many radical groups are clamoring for the legalization of many drugs and it’s another cool identity for kids; kids who are starving for attention.

There is an identity that kids and adults can claim and it’s cheap and easy to acquire. The cults, radicals, gays, and predators say Christians are just using children and indoctrinating them and are no different, but there is a glaring difference; they get real love in return. You can wear a cross if you want an identity but it isn’t needed; God will still love you. You will have a much larger flock of friends as well and they are friends that will be there forever.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
